Providing a Service to AgricultureNature's Novel and its products provide an invaluable service to
agriculture which enhances the environment and stimulates natural balance.
EM Microbial Innoculant is a mixed liquid culture that can be used in a
variety of agricultural and environmental applications. Organic farming,
whether commercial organic farming or an individual wanting to grow
vegetables in an organic garden can benefit from the use of Nature's Novel
EM-1™ Microbial Innoculant.
EM-1™ is a complex microbial inoculant that can be used in a variety of agricultural and environmental applications. "EM" refers to "Effective Microorganisms" and was developed by Dr. Teruo Higa, Professor of Horticulture at the University of the Ryukyus in Okinawa, Japan. EM was designed to produce abundant, healthy crops while reducing the use of chemical pesticides and other synthetic compounds. EM-1™ benefits many types of agricultural systems, doing its best work when used as part of an organic fertility program including crop residues, compost, green manures, and organic fertilizers (of plant and animal origin), along with other sources of carbon and nutrients. When used in conventional agriculture, EM can increase the efficiency of applied fertilizer while promoting the growth of beneficial microorganisms in the soil. Multiple inoculations over an extended period are recommended for achieving optimum results. However, good results also may be seen with the very first treatment. An agricultural system that particularly benefits from
EM-1™ is Nature Farming, a
sustainable, organic farming system developed by Mokichi Okada
(1889-1955), who was a Japanese philosopher, naturalist and spiritual
teacher. Nature Farming works in harmony with Nature and with natural
laws. EM-1™ can be used to inoculate plants, water and soil in various ways to achieve beneficial results. It can be sprayed on soil as a pre-planting treatment, used to inoculate seeds or transplants, and applied to growing crops as a foliar spray or through irrigation water. EM is useful in growing nursery crops, container-grown plants, and even in hydroponics. It is used on a variety of crops, including cotton, soy beans, corn and other grains, vegetables, fruits, vine crops, flowers (especially orchids) and herbs. After crops are harvested, EM is used to help break down crop residues. EM can be applied to cover crops and green manures during growth and upon incorporation into the soil, and is applied to pastures with good effects. Since EM is completely nontoxic, it is harmless to all wildlife.
